Casa Flores
This family home sits on a 647m² site in Auchenflower, Queensland. The original Queenslander was raised and restored, while a split-level extension was added to respond to the sloping site.
A clear distinction between old and new is expressed through the exterior materials, colours and architectural detailing. Inside, a restrained palette of timber and concrete creates a timeless style.
Open-plan living spaces connect seamlessly to the levelled rear garden, creating a light-filled, breezy home ideal for family life and entertaining.
The design respectfully preserves the original character while introducing a refined contemporary addition, transforming the pre-war bungalow into a modern Queensland home.

Working with Leticia was a fantastic experience from the beginning. She took the time to understand how we wanted to live, the level of finish we were after and what truly mattered to us.
From early concepts through to final handover, she guided every decision with care, clarity and honesty, always presenting thoughtful options while giving us confidence in our choices.
The design has transformed our late 1800s bungalow into a light filled Queensland home that balances original character with a refined modern addition. Open plan living, strong connection to outdoors and a private tropical feel have made it a joy to live in.
More than six years on, the home continues to suit our lifestyle as our family evolves. We would recommend Laar Design without hesitation and would gladly work with Leticia again.
